Set in San Francisco during the early part of the twentieth century, this story tells about the lives of an immigrant family. Mama is determined that her children will grow up secure and well educated, in spite of the mishaps that beset the family. Her resourceful ways have a deep effect on the lives of all who come into contact with her. She is truly remarkable.
