This classic tale set in Texas just after the Civil War is the story of an ugly yellow dog and the family he adopted. With his father away on a cattle drive, a dog was needed at the ranch. But Old Yeller was not the dog Travis had in mind! Still, the dog nosed his way into the hearts of the whole family--especially Travis. How would they have survived the hardships of life in the untamed west without him?
